This symposium focuses on the study of relationships between different variables that form the learning and teaching process and its regulation. Results are framed in the R&D Project on “Improving self-regulated learning in university students through better regulation in teaching” (BSO2003-06493). A total of 470 students participated, from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UK), University of Granada and University of Almería (Spain), from first or fourth year of studies, and pursuing degrees in Psychology or Education. We used different instruments to evaluate the relationships under study. Expectations of teaching and learning were evaluated using the Spanish versions (produced here) of two instruments, the USET and the Confidence Scale (Sander, 2001, 2003), developed at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UK). Learning approach was evaluated through a Spanish version (produced here) of the R-SPQ-2F (Biggs, Kember & Leung, 2001). Self-regulation was evaluated by a Spanish version, also translated here, of the SRQ (Brown, Miller & Lawendowski, 2003).

In summary, we present several important relationships of associative or inferential character which suggest the incorporation of new variables into the study of teaching-learning processes at university. These are highly relevant in that they shed light on issues relating to the European Space for Higher Education (ESHE).

Finally, we present a on-line intervention tool for improvement self-regulated learning of university students. We explain DIMEPEA (DIspositivo on-line para la MEjora del Proceso de Enseñanza-Aprendizaje), this tool has been applied by researcher of proyect in the University of Wales Institute, University of Granada and University of Almería (Spain).

The colloquium is integrated for four presentations

2.Study of teaching processes and evaluation preference by university students

3. Self-regulated learning of students university with diferente learning approach

4. Improvement of self-regulated learning from web-based instruction.
