Negotiated Individual Management Plans: Managing Behavioural Difficulties
By understanding that some students cannot assume as much control of their behaviour as the majority, we have developed Individualised Management Plans which we negotiate with student and teachers to assist in developing positive relationships; to ensure the teacher has a means of maintaining a safe learning environment; and to assist the student to develop some self control and greater responsibility for their behaviour. Improved relationships among all the school community are achieved by the reduced conflict and improved focus on a constructive learning environment. Teacher satisfaction is improved as the focus of their work returns to building positive relationships in the classroom.
