The Construction of Pedagogical Knowledge in a Higher Education Teacher Training Program

A higher education teacher training program based on the development of reflective processes on the practice within the framework of the Unit for the Quality of the Andalusian Universities (UCUA) is being developed. The teaching staff is the protagonist of their own professional development. It is a program that tries to build and generate practical knowledge on didactic, curricular and pedagogical aspects using for it the self evaluation. This kind of programs considers to the teaching staff as practical professionals and it tries to create spaces for the construction of shared knowledge. An evaluative case study on the development of the program in the University of Cadiz is presented. We focused on the results in relation to some evaluated aspects such as the conceptions on the nature of the pedagogical knowledge. It is also analysed the main difficulties and obstacles that take place in the development of this process of construction of knowledge.
